Joy was made a Company Director on 28 August 2007 and given a new role as Operations Director. Prior to this, Joy was the Regional Manager for Wycar Leys Ltd, and she managed and oversaw the running of six homes and was responsible for 60 service users and 150 members of staff.

Joy has been in the care industry for over 23 years, working in a multitude of roles with a variety of Service Users. She started her career as a nursing assistant, progressing to a trainee nurse and gained her qualifications and experience to take on new and more demanding roles some of which include Staff Nurse, Team Leader and Acting Ward Manager for Rampton Special Hospital, Director of Nursing & Nurse Manager at Middlefield House Nursing Home, Nurse Manager at Whitwell Park Nursing and Residential Home.

Joy’s previous experience with in the industry is vast, consisting of management roles which are challenging and equally testing. Some of these roles include taking on positions within homes on the verge of closure due to problems with regulatory standards and general management. Her hard work and sheer dedication managed to turn them round to a service provision later recognised for its quality and high standards of care.

Others roles include the development of  residential homes for adults with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health Problems, where she managed issues concerning local authority registration, development of policies and procedures, building  core staff and management teams, marketing, developing service standards and business branding.

Joy took up employment with Wycar Leys in September 2000. During her time at Wycar Leys Joy has developed the service from one home to six homes. Her main aim was to improve the service by creating an environment that provides a good stable home where Service Users can feel safe, secure and valued however complex their needs may be.

Joy recognises the importance of having a strong management and staff team in order to deliver Service User needs. She has ensured all personnel are provided with full training so they can fully understand and implement their roles and responsibilities.

Joy leads by example, her personal commitment and passion for ensuring standards are not just met but exceeded, are shown in her work, she will go the extra step to ensure Service Users and staff feel supported and develop to their full potential.

Her enthusiasm and positive attitude has created “a needs lead service” at Wycar Leys where all Service User needs are met no matter how demanding or complex. She perceives all Service Users as individuals with individual needs, and believes that all individuals have the potential to achieve their personal goals providing the correct environment and support is made available to them.
