Our aim is to encourage our Service Users to reach their full potential through the development of their knowledge and skills. We do this by working in partnership with a number of local colleges, developing a wide variety of programs which are available for Service Users to attend. Some of these are:
For those Service Users who do not feel comfortable attending college, we have tutored college programme sessions within our educational environment at Wycar Leys.
People with Learning Disabilities tend to take part in few leisure activities and it is often seen as an optional extra and put at the bottom of the list. We believe that enabling people to have a wide variety of leisure opportunities can improve their quality of life, increase social inclusion, and enable them to have healthy lifestyles.
We provide a wide variety of leisure opportunities for Service Users within the grounds of Wycar Leys and within the local community, which are accessed on a daily basis. As part of our Service Users’ day-to-day living, we incorporate independent living skills with learning experiences and an element of fun. We will always attempt to facilitate any request from Service Users for any activity, but only if it is deemed an acceptable risk will it be added to the wide range of activities which are accessed by Service Users.
Our home in Bulwell accessed the facilities at Bilsthorpe at least once a week
As well as full board and lodging, our fees include all Service User group activities, both internal and external, including outings and holidays.
We feel it is important for Service Users to stay in contact with family and friends. We encourage Service Users to do this via telephone, letters and home visits. All home visits are fully supported by us and we provide a drop off and pick up service. We also welcome Service Users family and friends to visit us at any location.
