Specialist residential care homes for adults with varying degrees of learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. Bilsthorpe, Nottingham, Burton-on-trent, Doncaster, Leicester based residential care home.
The Mews is a late 18th Century building which provides a specialist residential home for ten individual male adults who have mild to moderate learning disabilities and associated challenging behaviour.
All of the accommodation is ground floor, however there are different levels within the home. The home is spacious and has its own secure garden with a barbecue area, grass lawn and a smoking shelter as requested by the service users who currently live with us.
The environment has been adapted to meet the challenging needs of the service users who live with us and the furniture is robust and in some areas securely fixed in place as a risk reducing management technique.
The Service Users will be involved in running of the home at all times and this will include the interviewing of staff, planning daily and weekly menu’s, where to shop for groceries, activity schedules, holidays, use of transport both private and public and all everyday situations that everyday living gives to us all.
The Service Users are encouraged to take a leading role in the day to day management of the home and all decisions about their future and the care and support they need.
